About

*This blog was formerly named Whitaker Plantation and has recently received an overhaul and new name. :)

Hi! My name is Casey and I'm so thankful you've chosen to visit my little corner of the internet. Nothing profound here, I promise. Just little old me, trying to be a light.

I am a stay-at-home wife to my husband David. I am so very blessed to have a personal relationship with Jesus, and while so many things about my life remain uncertain, He is steadfast.

Since I married my husband in 2010, I have felt God working and changing so many things about my life. First, He convicted my heart that my place was at home. I rebelled against that mightily at first (but, Lord, I went to college!), but my heart and mind eventually caught up to the idea. My life plans changed, my heart changed for God, and my priorities certainly did too. I enjoy being a helpmeet to my husband, who is such an amazing gift to me and I am so proud of him and the ways I see the Lord changing his heart as well. Second, the Lord renewed His lifelong conviction in my heart to begin dressing modestly. I answered this time. However, I certainly rebelled and questioned and experimented with that too. I had a plethora of questions, many Bible studies, and plenty of internet searches. Luckily, I found this conviction wasn't so out there like I feared.  It has changed so much about life for me, but in many ways, it's made getting dressed so much easier. These changes in my heart are just two of many in this season of life.
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

Things are swiftly changing now as we contemplate moving away, simplifying our lives, and are waiting for our next steps forward in faith. With so many things uncertain I am so thankful I'm not the one in control!

Did I mention that I'm so glad you're here? I hope you'll stay! Please make yourself some tea - I like mine with honey - and find a comfortable seat.

Twenty-Five Things About Me:
  1. I love Jesus. Our relationship has gotten really serious. It's the real deal.
  2. My husband is my best friend, and I love him so very much.
  3. I'm currently obsessed with natural living and would love any insight and wisdom you have on how to work with organic foods, herbs, oils, and making my own soaps/cleaners/etc. Also, I am mildly fascinated with homesteading. I'd love to hear from you if that's something you do.
  4. Fall is my favorite season. I come alive for fall.
  5. I do my own pedicures, which is why yours look better than mine.
  6. Hubby and I have no children. The Lord will bless us when He's ready.
  7. Our house is full of animals - three pups, two cats. Parenting practice at its best.
  8. Jesus has been there for me more than any person in my life. I strive every day to live for Him, love Him, and be a light for Him.
  9. I love to make stuff, but I am only an average crafter!
  10. I read more than the average person - I think. I'm on book number 41 for this year.
  11. I love lavender – color, scent, flower – anything.
  12. The sound and smell and feel of the ocean calms me. It's really cleansing for me.
  13. I adore Jane Austen.
  14. Sunday is my favorite day of the week because I love going to church.
  15. I love baking. Right now I'm really into baking my own bread. If you've got a great recipe, I definitely want you to share.
  16. I love period movies. Five hours of Pride and Prejudice sounds like a great way to relax.
  17. I wish I took more pictures.
  18. I love checklists and schedules, but hate plans. You figure that one out.
  19. I really enjoy reading Amish fiction. I love their faith and simplicity.
  20. My favorite color is pink. No it’s turquoise... Wait lavender! Chartreuse? Cerulean blue? Oh, I don’t know!
  21. I make up my mind and change it all the time. Husband says it keeps things interesting. Bless him.
  22. I’m basically obsessed with my iPhone. I really need an intervention.
  23. My favorite book of the Bible is the story of Ruth.
  24. I love music. Love it.
  25. I really like this quote I found in the front of a book by Shelley Shepard Gray: "If you admire our faith - strengthen yours. If you admire our sense of commitment - deepen yours. If you admire our community spirit - build your own. If you admire the simple life - cut back. If you admire deep character and enduring values - live them yourself."                       -Small farm Journal (Summer 1993)
